Excel Default Dates

Copper Contributor

I have a text field in a spreadsheets into which I enter comments. I prefix each comment with the date by pressing 'Ctrl+;'; this provides the date in the format dd/mm/yyyy. For space reasons, I would like this to be dd/mm/yy but cannot find a way to change the default setting.

I have changed the short-date format in the Windows local settings (as suggested elsewhere) but this has no effect within Excel. I cannot format the column as a date fields as I include text comments also.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks Sergei. It looks like I will have to work with the full year if I want to use the shortcut.
