Excel Dashboard: Value from pivot table not appearing in linked shape

Copper Contributor

Hello,

I am trying to create a dashboard in Excel and I am having issues with linking cell values to shapes.   If I link a value to a shape on the same worksheet it works and is dynamic.  But when I move the shape to the dashboard the value disappears.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you click on the shape, what formula do you see in the formula bar?

Hi there @Hans Vogelaar ,
When I click on the shape this is the formula =$B$4

@Djoelle

When you copy a shape from one sheet to another, the formula doesn't change. So the formula now refers to cell B4 on the dashboard sheet. If the cell in the pivot table is on another sheet, you must edit the formula:

='Other Sheet'!$B$4

where Other Sheet is the sheet with the pivot table.

It worked. I really appreciate your help. Thank you @Hans Vogelaar !!
