Excel cell custom format disappears

Copper Contributor

I want to set up a custom cell format in Excel to be there permanently.  It is:   ""@".jpg"

I can easily type it in each time but I need it to stay in the General Custom box permanently.  Unfortunately it disappears each time after I use it once.  How do I make it become a permanent part of my Custom cell formula collection?

Hello @Tandalatom,

I would suggest creating an Excel Template. To create a template open a blank workbook, make changes to anything that you commonly change in new workbooks (i.e. custom format ""@".jpg") and save as an Excel Template. These sorts of changes will be retained within the template. Each time you want to create a new workbook that has the custom format ""@".jpg" already available, simply open your template.

@PReagan  Thanks much.  That does retain the formula.  Now I need to get used to using it!

My pleasure!
