I have an excel file with several password protected worksheets. Some of these worksheets are linked to another file. Since several employees use this template file to create other macro enabled files, we don’t want to allow the employees to unprotect the worksheets. Previously, they could open an unprotected worksheet and "Break links" to the external file. Therefore, the unprotect password wasn’t needed. However, recent attempts to break links from an unprotected worksheet generate the message "The cell or chart you’re trying to change is on a protected sheet. To make a change, unprotect the sheet". This problem didn’t occur a few weeks ago. Since I’m using Excel 365, I wonder if a change was made to the "Break link" command. Any suggestions for breaking the link from an unprotected worksheet (without unprotecting the critical worksheets) would be appreciated.
