Excel Addition

Copper Contributor

this is a simple problem but i do not know how to solve it.

i want to add two cells together.  example.   Cell B6 added to Cell H26.

Excel will not let me do this simple thing.  I have tried =B6+H26 and I get nothing.  I have tried putting the cells in () and that does not work.

can someone please help me?

thank you.

what do you mean by add?
Do you have text in the cells B6 and H26? where you want to put the result?
if it is text and you want to put the result in another cell, use this formula
=CONCATENATE(B6,H26)

thank you for looking at my problem.

this is my problem i want to take a money figure from B6 and from H26 and add them together and have the figure put in cell J26.   so something like this    Cell B6  $500 Cell H26 $200.

$500 + $200 = $700 and I want that money figure put into Cell J26.

what is the formula for this.

@Catherine0315

Your formula is correct if only you have number 500 formatted as $500. If that is text "$500" it shall be an error.

In some case Excel could auto-transform, but that depends.
