Excel 365 (free web version) not grouping dates in pivot tables

Copper Contributor

I have a sheet with the following data;

DateSalespersonAmount
4/4/2021Ellie$727.00
6/11/2021Izzy$426.00
4/12/2021Frank$314.00
5/2/2021Dara$228.00
7/28/2021Dara$563.00
8/20/2021Frank$200.00
3/17/2021Alice$737.00
2/16/2021Chris$455.00
9/26/2021Izzy$396.00
12/3/2021Izzy$964.00
1/27/2021Henry$909.00

When I create a pivot table, Excel is creating columns like this;

Sum of AmountDate        Salesperson1/1/20211/2/20211/3/20211/4/20211/5/20211/6/20211/7/20211/8/20211/9/2021

In Excel 2016 the pivot table is grouped correctly. If I right-click a data field, there isn't a group by option. How can this be fixed?

At the moment, Excel for the Web doesn't support grouping in PivotTables.

It appears it is a feature the Excel team is considering:

Date grouping for PivotTables in Excel for the web · Community (microsoft.com)

Yeah, I suspected it was by design.

Thanks
