Edit source data in combined Excel file

Copper Contributor

Hi fellow Excellers!

Is there any way to edit the source data from a combined file?

My situation:

I have a folder with several excel workbooks with tables in the same format, and with the same tab name. Every day, a new file is added.

With Power Query I can easily combine all workbooks, by just importing and combining the folder where all workbooks are stored.

What I would like to do is to be able to edit the data in the combined "master"-file, and get it edited in the source file as well. Is that at all possible?

I'm not afraid of using more advanced features, including VBA.

Hope to hear from you!

Best regards,

only the source file can be edited to update the power queried (query by folder) master file.

Perhaps you should be considering a database solution rather than Excel. The report to users could still be via Excel but the master data would be in the form of database tables.
Yes, that's probably the best solution. I will look in to that, thanks for the reply!
