Default decimal places

Copper Contributor

I am using Microsoft Excel on a Mac M1.

Ever since I started using it 3 months ago, whenever I input any number into a cell, it "misplaces" the decimal point.

ie.... if I want too input the whole number 100 - it shows as 1.00; (If I want to use the whole number 100 in a cell, I have to enter: 100. - with the decimal point physically entered at the end of the number)

if I want to input the whole number 2450 - it show as 24.50. (If I want to use the whole number 2450 in a cell, I have to enter: 2450. - with the decimal point physically entered at the end of the number)

The decimal place defaults to two places, no matter what number I input.

Where can I change this on Microsoft Excel??

On the Excel menu, select Preferences...

Click Edit.

Clear the check box "Display this number of decimal places".

@Stewart90 The setting is where @Hans Vogelaar pointed you to. However, on my Excel for Mac (MS365) the setting that you need to uncheck is called "Automatically insert a decimal point (places):"

Thanks, Riny - I don't have a Mac myself.
