Creating Sankey Diagrams

Copper Contributor
Hi,

Does anyone have any guides for creating Sankey Diagrams in Excel.

I deal with the analysis of a reasonably long process which has various customer inputs and outcomes.

I am looking for a visual way to show everyone who came into the process, and what happened to each person.

Sankey Diagrams seem to fit that bill perfectly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

That's not out of the box for Excel, but you may find add-in(s) in Store or third-party solutions. It names as well as Data Flow chart is to search.

It is possible to create diagrams from shapes using VBA but it is not for the faint-hearted.

Hi@Tom_By ,

To create Sankey diagrams in Excel, you will need to install an external add-in tool called Power-user. You can install it here - https://www.powerusersoftwares.com/. After installing the add-in, you will have to follow various steps as discussed here and that's it. It's very simple. Thanks.

Hi @Tom_By

Hope you and your loved ones are doing well.

I totally agree with you that "Sankey Diagrams seem to fit that bill perfectly".

I would like to recommend "ChartExpo For Excel" add-in for Sankey diagram. Very easy to create chart and there is no coding (VBA)  skill required.

@Tom_By Here are two 3rd party add-ins that support Sankey Diagram: The first is a complex data visualization tool: Ultimate Dashboard Tools for Excel.

Another great solution is the Power-user add-in. Both of them provide advanced charts and graphs for Excel.
