counting instances by unique product code

Hello,

 for the sample file i have attached i want to count when the term "negative" is used in sheet 1 - column M and have this counted and automatically summed in sheet 2 for each unique product code - column F. I couldn't get the formula to work when i was used and if formula earlier. Thanks, Kind Regards

=COUNTIFS(Sheet1!$C$2:$C$6,Sheet2!A2,Sheet1!$M$2:$M$6,"Negative")

Is this the formula you are looking for? I entered formula in F2 and copied down to F4 in Sheet2.

that should work, can you talk me through how you got it please?
