COUNTIF formula from a dropdown list

Brass Contributor

Hey guys,

I am working on a project for incidents at work. What I have is a table that I am wanting to do a COUNTIF or COUNTIFS statement that will count the total number of incidents (in another tab) per shift (column titled "Shift") for the week, month, and year to date based on which week I select in the dropdown. Do you have any suggestions?

@catherine9910 Have you considered using a pivot table to summarise the data table containing all incidents?

Apart from the fact that the advice of Mr. Riny_van_Eekelen is very good,

I recommend that you insert a file (without sensitive data)

where you have done a preliminary work if you want to do it in COUNTIF or COUNTIFS.

On the basis of this file, you can then precisely explain your plan.

In this way you will get an answer to your request much faster and more precisely

and at the same time the person who wants to help does not have to invest a lot of time

... which may otherwise be invested for others.
