I have a problem with the format of my excel if any one could help me that would be great.
Context
We use a CAD program to generate certain coordinates for a project. the CAD program generates a text. file with the data. The data gets imported from an text file to excel
When we import the data its formatted as text. i cant change it to text because it would mess up the presentation of the numbers. that's why i cant just make a formula that divided by 1000. The coordinates should be displayed as 6 numbers then "." then another 3 numbers. like this :123456.789
when i change the cell to NUMBER i get a number like this 104.159.677.926. Is it possible to change the format of the cell to display the data like this 123456.789. now i have to manually change the numbers to fit the format
When i import the data from text it show up like this: 104159677.926
and it should be like this: 104159.677
