Confused about cloud storage for Excel

Copper Contributor

Hi

I have a project for an organisation and I need to get them to make a decision on where to store the finished project.

Currently they use Dropbox. Which is fine as we want to store linked files there and place links in spreadsheet. It was going to be a Google Sheets doc at that stage. Then the changes came in about Google Sheets, no longer can be stored in Dropbox and they convert the file to xslx and save to Drive.

Which would be fine but the functionality in the excel is limited and some  automations that I created will not work in that format.

The other option is to have it stored in Google Drive (move the linked files there) and leave as Google sheets. (sort of ok) yet to find out if they have an account.  Also they are going to be moving to Sharepoint at some stage.

My question is.....where can I place the xslm file? Is Sharepoint going to be the only option to allow full functionality?

Yikes it was sooo straight forward before.

Solution

place the xslm
Is Sharepoint going to be the only option to allow full functionality?

What do you expect full functionality?
If VBA,as fas as I know only support local disk file rather than online Excel.
