Column border help

Hi everyone,
First time poster here.
Just have a question, I have a large table and had to edit the borders in a particular column. To get it uniform before changing it I highlight the entire column and changed it. Once I made the individual border edits I got to the bottom of the table and see that the column border extended below the table and does not end. How do I get rid of the unlimited border beneath my table without highlighting the entire column and changing the table borders?

select the cell below the table which needs to be changed (remove border or whatever), press Ctrl+Shift +↓ to select all cells in this column from the first you want to change to the bottom one. 

Now make the change to the border
