Colour first cell in column depending on how many cells in column are filled with colour

I have a Gantt chart with dates going along the X-axis at the top.

I have certain cells highlighted below the dates based on Y-axis data. 

 

I want to highlight the date at the top with colours between green and red, depending on how many cells are highlighted below it. 

 

If there's none - no colour

If there's one or two cells - green

If there's three - amber

If there's four or more - red.
