Hi @salsequim
You can create two of the three suggestions in Excel online and the third suggestion can be set up in Excel for desktop and will work fine in Excel online.
1. change the chart manually:
In Excel Online, select the chart and on the Chart ribbon select the "Select Data" command. Here you can change the range that the chart refers to. This works for data layouts in one contiguous range.
2. using an Excel table
Select the data and use the ribbon command Insert > Table. With the table selected, insert a chart. When new data rows are added to the table, the chart automatically includes these data points.
3. Set up dynamic range name formulas and connect them to charts in Excel for desktop. Then you can use Excel online to add new data and the charts will update automatically.
Some more sophisticated techniques, like dynamic range names, can only be configured in Excel for desktop, but once they have been set up, the will work in Excel online as well.

The table doesn't add to the chart without changing the range. The x-axis data goes from months to each entry.
