Charts: Format Legend Entry: Text Options: Text box -- all fields are disabled, how to enable them?

Hello! For a chart I have I see under "format legend entry" -> "text options" -> "text box" a lot of different settings. But all of the settings are greyed out. I would like to adjust the margin settings. How can I enable them? Are they only available for certain types of figures?
