On importing some data the number in a column has been entered as text (example '64) is there anyway I can change this column to number format without having to reenter all of the numbers?

As variant you may select column, be sure it is in General format (at least not Text), on ribbon Data->Text to Columns, on third step of the wizard also General (default one), Finish
