Change in the way formulas are shown

Copper Contributor

All my spreadsheets dating back used to show columns alphabetically. Now going back to even old spreadsheets they are shown as numbers and the resultant formulas used are shown as for example

+Sum(RC(-12):RC(-9))

In the past this would have been the simpler +Sum(C9:F9). Question is how can I get the simpler system back- its what I am used to

Solution
Open Excel, point to 'File' on the ribbon.
Select 'Options' at the bottom of the list.
In the dialog box that opens, select 'Formulas' in the left hand side list.
Under 'Working with formulas' try un-checking the 'R1C1 reference style'
Select 'OK', and see if that works for you.

@dodger1Many thanks that worked for me and is a big relief
