Change how date format displays based on date

Copper Contributor

I want to be able to enter any date into a column of cells and have the way the dates display to automatically change based on the date.  For every month except May, June, and July, I want to be able to enter the 6 digit date and the cell to display that date as mmm. d (ex, 12/1/22 would display as Dec. 1).  But for dates in the months of May, June, and July, I want to be able to enter the 6 digit date and have it display with the month written out and no period (i.e. 6/1/22 would display as June 1, rather than Jun. 1).

Is there a way to achieve this?  I assume that I could use a helper column with an if formula, but I'm making this template for a colleague who is not very versed in excel and would be over burdened by having to hide the helper column.  So it would be better if I could make it change automatically.  I also never know which cell is going to end up with a May, June or July date, so I can't format them ahead of time.  Is this option available with conditional formatting?
