Can I use conditional formatting to format different parts of a text cell differently with a formula

I found this statement at https://www.excelbanter.com/excel-worksheet-functions/162530-how-embed-font-size-changes-within-exce...

“Another option is to use conditional formatting to apply different formatting to different parts of the text based on certain criteria. For example, you could use conditional formatting to apply a larger font size to the first word in a cell and a smaller font size to the rest of the words. Here’s how you can do it:”

The site then proceeded with a full example of how to do it. But I could not make it work.

Is this actually possible? Windows 10

I'm afraid those instructions are nonsense. It is not possible use conditional formatting to format part of the text in a cell differently from the rest. It requires VBA, along the lines of Roger Govier's reply in that discussion.
