Calculating threads

[DYell1]

When I hit F9, my sheet doesn't properly update until I either:

1- go over each cell manually, hit F2 and then Enter

2- Save the workbook- at which point it says "Calculating (6 Threads): XX%"

What does this mean, and how do I fix it?
