Calculate across cells

Copper Contributor

=(D1614*$H$2)+(F1614*$I$2)+(G1614*$J$2)*I1614.

I am not coming up with the correct value. what is wrong with the formula.

@lizalexandersurgical That depends! What's in all these cells and what is the result you expect to see?

Perhaps you need some extra brackets in the correct place.

I am multiply the two matched colored cells and add them each together.  Then multiply the total by the conversion cell.  My formula should give me the "expected reimb", but its off.  The actual is the amount at the top that I did separately $3288.92, not 852.90.

@lizalexandersurgical From your description I suspect you can adjust the formula to :

=(D1614*$H$2+F1614*$I$2+G1614*$J$2)*I1614.

 This will sum three multiplications and then multiply that sum with the value in I1614.

That formula doubled the answer.

@lizalexandersurgical Well, can you tell which cells has what value and how you want to multiply and sum them?

It should have worked, we are multiplying two cells and adding the next set of multiplied cells.
D1614*H2 add to
F1614*I2 add to
G1614*J2 then multiplying the result by the last cell I1614

@lizalexandersurgical My formula should work then. For example, (2 x 3 + 2 x 3 + 2 x 3) x 10 = 180 (i.e. 6+6+6 = 18 x 10 = 180). If you don't give me your numbers, I can't help you any further.

I am sorry, I misunderstood...
57.01 x 1.000 + 41.91 x 0.916 + 11.36 x 1.195 x 55.80 =

Solution

@lizalexandersurgical Then that would be:

=D1614*$H$2+F1614*$I$2+G1614*$J$2*I1614

equaling 852.90 (rounded).
