Budget worksheet

I have worksheets for Jan-Dec.   After each month's data is entered I want that YTD total to appear in the next month's data.  Is is better to "send" Jan data up to Feb  OR  have Feb "call up" that total?

 

At the end of Dec what s the best way to begin the next year's worksheets?

You are able to link a cell value from one sheet to another simply by selecting the destination cell, type = and then select the source cell and hit enter.

 

Let's say your month end balance or balance carried forward is in cell G10 of each monthly sheet and your balance brought forward from the previous sheet is entered in cell A1.  In sheet two (or February) your formula would look something like =Sheet1!G10, in sheet three (or March) it would be =Sheet2!G10, etc.  Obviously, if you start a new workbook each year then you would need to link the January bal b/f to the previous years' sheet or enter the amount manually.
