AutoSave for Excel conflicting with colleague changes.

Copper Contributor

Basically the environment is 2 people on 1 excel file with a handful of workbooks.

From time to time, we get the following message:

"Your file wasn't uploaded because your changes can't be merged with changes made by someone else."

Can someone shed some light on why this is happening when Auto Save should being updating the file every few seconds?

This typically happens when one of the users does something that is not yet supported in Excel's new Co Authoring feature. I seem to recall adding shapes is one of them.

No special shapes. Just some background color for some of the column's.

@Cypher Net You guys found a solution/workaround for this? We have users "today" that are having the same issue/error while coediting

Are all users on the same version of Excel?

@Jan Karel Pieterse Yes, we use Version 1808 (build 10730.20370) - Semi annual

Hmm, odd. Sounds like there is a synchronisation problem with one or more of the people editing the workbook. A bad network or internet connection may cause issues.

@Jan Karel Pieterse Thanks. We'll do test with them and see the different use case. We'll keep you guys posted
