accounting: excel or power pivot

Iron Contributor

Hello everyone!

I have a question regarding Excel and power pivot.

What would be better to consolidate accounting books of 17 companies made through different Excel sheets: using a new sheet to import data (through "Vlook" or learning and start using power pivot?

As the accounting books are constantly changing, so would be the consolidation sheet.

Looking forward to hear your suggestions, thank you very much in advance, Juan

Hi Juan,

Better to consolidate / transform the data using Power Query, if some measures with further analysis of summary sheet is required when add data to data model and use Power Pivot.

Dear Sergei,

Thank you very much for your quick and clear answer.

Could you send me any links to learn Power Query from Microsoft ?

I would appreciate if this could be in Spanish as i would be more confident.

Best regards, juan

Juan, you may start from this introduction support article https://support.office.com/en-us/article/introduction-to-microsoft-power-query-for-excel-6e92e2f4-20.... It's in English, but you may change the language at very left bottom of the page.
