J2SE Plugin 1.6.0.07 not recognized as installed when running Oracle Application in IE Mode in EDGE

I'm retyping this question someone else raised in the consumer edge forum and the person was redirected here but hasn't posted a question, but I'm having similar :

After enabling IE Mode in edge using GPO we an error the following error within edge browser. We are able to open the web app home page, but opening a link within the app we get that error.

error:

"In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete."

Downloading the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07 plugin and installed. Tried again to run the Oracle Application and the above message was displayed again.

I forced a download of the edge mode site list, and tried again - a java popup warning appeared, and it worked. not sure if it was the force update or if it was the java popup.

What is the main cause?

@Elwynw Hello - Was it the answers.microsoft.com Forum you were looking at?  I found this post (J2SE Plugin 1.6.0.07 not recognized as installed when running Oracle - Microsoft Community).  If you scroll down to the last reply on May 22, 2021 there is a user that provides how they fixed the issue.  Have you tried their suggestion?  Thanks!

i think I was after more about the root cause than the fix.
