Edge Chromium not following taskbar layout in GPO

Copper Contributor

I'm attempting to deploy the new edge browser, version 80.0.361.50 (Official build) (64-bit), in an enterprise situation, and Edge pins itself to the taskbar even though I have an .xml file that specifically designates that only two icons - IE11 and File Explorer should show on the taskbar.  Previous to installing Edge Chromium I had no problems controlling the taskbar with my .xml file and the GPO that specifies where to find the file.  Now I have IE11, File Explorer and Edge on the taskbar.  Here's the code for my Start Menu and Taskbar and Edge is not specified anywhere in it, yet it remains pinned on the taskbar.

@SN1973

I'm having exactly the same problem.

Any solution yet?

Thanks

@SN1973 navigate to %AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar and delete unwanted icons

@leonchyk This is in an organization.  So I would have to do that for all 300 PCs?  Thanks for the idea though, gives me something to consider or at least a helpful start.

@SN1973 use an sccm script to remove the icon on all pc's!

@leonchyk We don't use SCCM unfortunately.

@SN1973 logon scripts then, come on!

Ok, thanks for the suggestions, hopefully MS fixes the actual problem, if not I'll give that a shot.

@leonchyk Thanks for your answer. That's how we do it at the moment. But it's pretty annoying to make this extra step, if you already created a special taskbar layout. Let's hope for a fix...

@Vico29 I hope so too. Dealing with the same problem here. Did you managed to found another solution?

If not, Microsoft, make it right please.
