Edge Beta ignores desktop icon setting in the master_preferences file

Brass Contributor

I set

"do_not_create_desktop_shortcut":true,

in the master_preferences file.

But a icon was placed on the desktop.

Is there an other setting name for the beta channel or is this a wanted behavior?

Thanks!

@Deletedany news about the issue?

I want you to know, that i have tried with the new stable version 81.0.416.58.

I have added the MSI parameter "DONOTCREATEDESKTOPSHORTCUT=true".

There is no more icon on the desktop placed.

Other problems still exist, but i will reply on the thread.

@pilgi3 Great news, there will be a group policy to support this functionality in one of the upcoming releases!

It looks like you are already aware of the technical execution, but to confirm, you can find it in the release notes page:
"Added an MSI command line parameter that lets you suppress Desktop icon creation when you install Microsoft Edge. The following example shows how to use this new parameter:"

MicrosoftEdgeEnterpriseX64.msi DONOTCREATEDESKTOPSHORTCUT=true

Hopefully that helps!
