Wanting to move lots of data to the cloud can take a long time and cost quite a bit, even over fast connections.  In the past have shared how Universities can move data from on Premise into Microsoft Data Centres using Microsoft Storage Import & Export https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/uk_faculty_connection/2017/04/28/post-your-harddrive-for-uploa... Which allows Azure users to import data to its cloud by shipping hard drives to its data centres.

But this was a huge issue if you had a large amount of Data well now we have 100 TB Azure Data Box

So what is Azure Data Box

This service is in preview but, Azure Data Box service lets you move hundreds of terabytes of data into Azure with high speed using secure transfer appliances. We accelerate the movement of your data by shipping you a proprietary, secure, and tamper-resistant transfer appliance and handling the end-to-end logistics. Learn more

The box plugs right into the data centre network and supports standard protocol like SMB and CIFS . Data on the box itself is secured with with a 256 bit AES encryption

Signing up for the preview

You can sign up for the preview via the Azure Portal http://aka.ms/azuredatabox and UK data centres are available, simply select the data which is being moved, the country where this located the target data centre the type of services and time frames for when the data move is required.
