If you are sending a colleague a link to a document in Teams do they have to be a member of that Team to access the document. I appreciate that you can give guest access to users outside of your organisation.

Hi @Debb0R ,
You can send a link to any file that is stored in Teams(SharePoint) to any user, they do not need to be a member of the team.
Click Open in SharePoint on the files tab and then select the file, click Share and select the Link option that applies. You can share to any internal colleagues from here.
Depending on your external sharing settings you may be able to share with any external user. Speak to your admin if its not letting you as this is something that can be configured.
