We are excited to announce the release our Microsoft Service Adoption Specialist  online course.  Earn your certificate in this body of knowledge that is delivered through our partner, EdX.org. This course is designed to help you understand the six knowledge areas required to successfully drive the adoption of Microsoft services in your company.  While all great service adoption is technology agnostic, this course uses Microsoft Teams, our hub for teamwork in Office 365, as the example service throughout the material.  A Service Adoption Specialist brings together business acumen, technical knowledge with an understanding of how to drive change and passion for helping people under one umbrella.

Our material is interactive - with videos, case studies and other visuals - to create an engaging experience.  Whether you have a formal organizational change management background, are an IT professional or are entirely new to this industry this baseline course is appropriate for you.  Do these three simple things:

  1. Find your Tribe - Participate in the conversations here in the Driving Adoption forum and also join our Office 365 Champion program to participate in our free monthly community calls chock full of information about all our teamwork solutions.
  2. Tell the Story - Our recently released Microsoft Teams Adoption Toolkit is delivered in a unique, mobile friendly way that helps you answer the questions of, "Why Teams?" and "How do I get started?"
  3. Earn Your Certificate! - Validate your skill set and expand your career by taking our online course at https://aka.ms/AdoptionCert and certifying your capability in this new and emerging area today. Share this certification in your organization and online.

The EdX platform is also where we deliver our course for IT Professionals entitled "Enabling Teamwork with Microsoft Teams" that focuses on the configuration, deployment and management of that service. Take this course to expand your technical knowledge of Microsoft Teams.

Our innovation in this area would not be possible without the contributions of many people across the industry. I've noted their names in the "Acknowledgement and Thanks" section of our course. Become familiar with these leaders who are experts and fantastic supporters of this community!

Give us feedback on your experience here or within the discussion forums on EdX. We are always listening!

Hello All - While there is a version of my course on Microsoft Learn it is an early version and not recommended at this time.  The course on EdX has extended until December 30, 2020. At that time we will be making a transition to the Microsoft Learn experience once I've ensured that everyone who has already been certified will have their credential ported to the new system.  Please use https://aka.ms/AdoptionCert to find the course that has been extended. I will make an announcement in the Driving Adoption community about this transition ahead of the January 1st date with additional enhancements to the course.

Thank you!  @Chris Nicholson @AndreasSchulze-Kopp @Hans ten Berge @DennisBark @Alexander Rico

@Karuana Gatimu Thanks for your answer but you mention that the course was extended on edX until end of 2020 but this is not the case. This is the reason why so many people are confused to be honest. I can login on edx and the system still told me that the course I am looking for has been ended at end of september.

Copper Contributor

Hello

I want to do the course, but the course closed on September 30

Is there any other date for the course?

thanks

Brass Contributor

Hi Karuana Gatimu,

When I click the new link the course is presented but when I enroll that does not work.

we still get the error "The course you are looking for is closed for enrollment as of 9/30/20, 12:00 AM."

When I look to another course in the system it is not there. Can you please check if the date extention or new link will be activated?

Thanks

Hans

Hi,

[UPDATE - see response from @Karuana Gatimu ]

As I mentioned above, if you want to follow the Service Adoption course, you can complete the training for free via the Microsoft Learn platform: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/paths/m365-service-adoption/

As far as I can tell (I did the Edx course), it's the same course as WAS available via Edx. However, if you really wanted that certificate, then it looks like this will not now be possible.

@jcwyatt Hello there. I am the Microsoft author of the course and I did respond above.  By using the following link you can still get to the EdX course which is available until December 2020.   Please use this link and take that course rather than the one on Microsoft Learn until 2021 when we officially launch it.  See my post above.  The proper link is https://aka.ms/AdoptionCert  Thank you!

@jcwyatt Hello there. Please DO NOT take the Learn course until that time otherwise I can't guarantee your automating upgraded badge in that new system.   See my post above.  The proper link is https://aka.ms/AdoptionCert  Thank you!

Additionaly @Hans ten Berge  I see your post so I'll go in and troubleshoot.  I'm seeing the below data so something is amiss. Thank you for reporting the further details.

UPDATE:  I have put in a trouble ticket to the enrollment team to try to resolve the issue.  Either myself or @Jessie_Hwang will provide an update here as soon as its resolved - hopefully within 24 hours.  I'm sorry about the difficulty!

Brass Contributor

@Karuana Gatimu  - Apologies - I missed your response earlier - thanks for the update.

Copper Contributor

Hello, on EdX the course is no longer avaiable. is it retired?

Copper Contributor

Hi, @Karuana Gatimu the link for enrollment still doesn't work... Do you perhaps have any update there? Thank you very much!

Copper Contributor

I just tried to enroll in this course and it says that enrollment was closed on 9/30/20.  I just got the email today telling me about it.  Is this still available?

Copper Contributor

Dear @Karuana Gatimu

Is there any update regarding the issue?

I'm still unable to enroll to the course. It says "The course you're looking for is closed for enrollment as of 30/09/2020".

I've also dropped an email to edX, but still no reaction from them.

Would you please advise?

Many thanks,

Ramin Shafagatov

My apologies to you all. We are still working to resolve the problem. It is taking an inordinate amount of time but we are pushing!! Thank you for your patience.

Hello I do hate to bug, but reaching out just in case.

I enrolled in the edX course back in June. I am still able to access the course but the snippets of videos that were available throughout the course are no longer playing. Do you know if there is another way to watch those or is that part of the issue you are looking into. Thank you.

Brass Contributor

Hope there is any progress on enrolling the course @Karuana Gatimu

@Karuana Gatimu Any chance that this will be offered again?

Copper Contributor

The course is no long available through EdX. When will it become accessible again, if at all?

Copper Contributor

Dear all,

While waiting for the update/feedback from Microsoft I've managed to get reaction from edX. See the screenshot of our communication below:

Now I guess we have to wait to see when it will be available via Microsoft Learn.

Good afternoon,

The Service Adoption Specialist certification course on Edx shows that there are no current courses.

Are you able to advise when the next course dates will be released?

https://www.edx.org/course/microsoft-service-adoption-specialist-2

Thanks and kind regards,

Brass Contributor

Hi @BellaAd ,

See the above comment from @rshafagatov. It looks like the course is not coming back to Edx, but can be done at Microsoft Learn, as @Teodora Badiu shared above.

Enjoy the course, there's a lot of great material!

Copper Contributor

Hi @Karuana Gatimu

I can now find the course available but it looks like there is no option to be certified?

Is this planned again?

Many thanks in advance

Best,

Dennis

Still being promoted as a certification - https://adoption.microsoft.com/roles/champion/ - is it just a Learn 'trophy' now?

Copper Contributor

Hi @Karuana Gatimu

I have a potential employer who is looking for a certification in this. I have completed the MS Learn course, but it only gives a trophy. How would I be able to get the certification that they ask for, and add it to my resume?

Copper Contributor

@Karuana Gatimu  as Marine_Adz said, today is still promoted as a certification and one of the reason to decide to spend time on it was that.

Course and the related knowledges are great, but in SMB the words "certification", "certified" and so on, help _champions_ to be heard by management, and as said by D_VanCamp helps people to promote themselves to a new employer to be someone with the right skills to be an important part in a company evolution.

Is there some plan to resume the certification instead of the simple trophy, via Edx o any other way?

Thank you!

Copper Contributor

Hello,

The instructions from Microsoft above give the impression there is a certificate for this course, but when I follow this link (and have completed the course), I cannot seem to find one. Is there a separate link for it?

Thanks.
