I'd say they have to. If it's gonna look like Chrome, behave like Chrome - then there is no reason for not using Chrome.
MS has to provide something better than Chrome, not just a bad copy. To do that they need to take the best parts of Edge - the userfriendly gui and combine that with the rendering and plugin functions from chromium. If that requires a fork of Chromium - so bee it.
The main reasons for the failure of edge classic was the dumb decission to not release it for W7 from day one hence limiting the market and forcing all W7 customers to choose another browser (Chrome).
Not having a scripblocker and for many years not having a good adblocker either cemented them to the bottom

This is a great read. Thank you for taking the time to advocate for the features and changes that you would like to see in the next version of Microsoft Edge. The list that we shared is our top feedback by number of individual instances, and with over 140,000 pieces of feedback received already, it only represents a small sliver. We are going to post the list of top feedback on a regular cadence in an effort to transparently show you how we use your feedback to make our product decisions. I fully expect things to drop off this list as they get worked on, or as priorities change. Things can also pop back on if we get it wrong. We really appreciate having you along with us on this journey, and your feedback so far has made the next version of Microsoft Edge better. Please keep sending us your suggestions and let us know how you think that we are doing, good or bad! Thanks - Elliot

Please is there any chance that the WEB NOTES is coming to Mac OS Edge?
The Web Note feature is fantastic in the Windows 10 version, and it would be lovely to see that feature in the Mac OS version.
I think this feature will certainly make the browser standout on Mac, as Chrome only have this feature as a plugin in which is nothing compared to the inbuilt Web Note feature in Edge on Windows 10.
Thanks for your kind consideration.

Heck, it will be lovely to see that Feature in Edge C on Windows, let alone on MAC. Yet, another person wanting Add notes (of Edge) to be in Edge C. Hmmm.... ver-rrrr-y in-terrr-est-ting (as Arte Johnston would say)

The Collections button seems to be implemented as a flyout, if I am using the term correctly. At least the behavior is similar to how Edge Legacy works with the Favorites button.
It is not clear to me what would prevent the Favorites button, or other buttons, from displaying the same way in Edge Chromium.

I take there is supposed to be an image, snip here, but, there is nothing. And if you have it that would be in your Canary. Not everyone has it, yet, btw. Both Share & were/are "Controlled Feature Roll-outs" which, means everyone does not/will not receive them simultaneously.
Here's an example - I have received recently, but, I am, still, patiently awaiting Share. They are both in Canary, so far; Canary has things 1st.. The other Channels see things later or after Canary.

Yes that version had problems with favorites page but got fixed in the next builds.
funny thing about Canary and Dev is that the same problems Canary has get passed on to the Dev, except that Dev channel gotta wait 7 days to receive the fixes but Canary channel usually gets it in a day or two. gods help the beta testers that need to wait 6 weeks @_@@

Hi @MarsMas, I am having trouble reproducing the issue you have described. When I double click on the items in Manage Favorites, they open in a new tab, and take me to that tab. If I am missing a step please let me know, so that I can reproduce the problem, and get a bug filed on our developers. Thanks - Elliot

Hi @HotCakeX, you will often see issues in Canary that are fixed within a couple of days, as the builds roll out. We try to pick the most stable builds each week for our Developer channel, but sometimes an impactful bug slips in. This should not happen too frequently, and as we get more of our features fully complete, the frequency should drop even more. Beta should be even better, and we will be servicing bugs that get reported as we go. The major release will come out about every six weeks, but there will likely be other updates for one-off bug fixes in between. Thanks - Elliot

@Elliot Kirk ok, here how it goes,
Click edge menu/ Favorites / Manage favorites /
(Mange Favorites will open in a new tab)
Now when you double click any URL in that tab, it it will open 2 times, one in "Manage Favorites tab" (current) and another in a new tab
i hope i am clear this time

It's normal behavior.
do you double click on links? Nope, same goes here.
You see the picture, if you click on the pink area (on the website's text name which when you hover your mouse over it the mouse cursor turns into a finger instead of arrow), that's where it's the link, you just have to either click using Left Mouse Button to open it in the favorites page or click using Middle Mouse Button to open it in a new tab or Right-click and select open in a new tab.
However, in the green area, if you double click, it will only open it in a new tab and not the favorites page.
This behavior is normal. whatever they change will ruin the current system, it's what is expected from links and bookmarks.
sorry but you're doing it the wrong way by double clicking on the website's text name which is a link, it should be clicked only once (either MMB or LMB). if you want to use double-click, just move your mouse a little tiny bit to the right and double click on the green area.

I cannot exactly repro what you describe. However, if you click on the Favs name, underlined with red, that is a link & will open on the same page as Manage Favorites. If you click anywhere else on the item's bar, that will open it in a new tab. I cannot make one open in both locations simultaneously; one or the other depending, as stated, where clicked.

@Drew1903 the issue is there when i double click in Favs name, and i must thank you for the other info about (If you click anywhere else on the item's bar, that will open it in a new tab), it is new to me and i was looking for such function to open Favorites in new tab always . thank you again

so you know you're doing it wrong and you still insist on doing it then instead you want Edge to change for everyone because you can't stop doing it wrong? wut o.O

Yes it's a link, you're not supposed to double click links, that's basics.
also if you only click one time in the Green area, it will only select that favorite entry, you have to double click there to open it in the new tab. there is no one-click option to open it in a new tab unless you use the middle mouse button.

Please checkout this post, it's an easier way to deal with bookmarks/favorites and has less confusions and difficulties in its UI.

Here's my opinion regarding Dbl Clk. It is really silly. Doing things with 2 clicks when they can be done with one seems like silly nonsense. I have used Windows on Single-Click as long as I can remember. This is another OS thing not, a browser thing. But, certainly, each to their own.
