Top Feedback Summary for September 9

Microsoft

Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.

Greetings, Insiders! This is a pretty small update this week as we roll out Edge 86 into our Beta channel and Edge 87 into our Dev channel. Let’s get into it!

We’re excited to mark Provide run / open / save / save as options when downloading files as Addressed today. Our wonderful team member Kent posted a detailed article about this new feature now available to users in Dev and Canary channels. He explains how you can enable it and notes a new addition to download management, deleting downloads directly from the browser. Head over to his post to read more about this feature and drop a comment to let us know how you feel about the change!

As always, even when we mark something as Addressed, we still want to know your thoughts about our changes! Happy with what we implemented or have thoughts on how we can improve it more? Drop us some feedback directly through the browser via the menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback. The team is constantly reviewing feedback to find ways we can improve, so keep it coming.

Until next week!

@cazafurcias42 I'm also waiting for this all those months. Two PCs and Android mobile phone really needs history/tabs sync so I can continue on other device what I started on phone or other PC. I feel like there is some issue inside Chromium making other browsers troubles. Vivaldi and Brave have unreliable sync especially for open tabs (Brave limited to 4 tabs).

@cazafurcias42 Interesting. Hopefully, Windows Timeline support is enabled once History Sync is enabled.

Hi,

When an external hyperlink is clicked the edge window does not push itself to the front of the screen. It just sits flashing orange in the taskbar. This is especially annoying in tablet mode where you then have to open the app switcher to get to edge.

Proposed change: When an external hyperlink is clicked edge should push itself to be the window on top (like just about every other browser and app).

Thanks,

Alex

@ajasnz Yes! Good lord! I thought I was the only one! Thought Windows was being Windows again! I would click a link in my mail app. Except in my case, sometimes, the icon does not even flash. I would be confused why it was not opening. And press it a few more times. Switch to the browser after manually copying the link. Oh. That's why...........

To be honest, I think this's the last reason that I still remain Chrome in my disk.

If Edge has screen capture that would enable us to snip our screen, can you allow us to screen record our screen in Edge? @MissyQ

I stopped using chrome because of the new Edge. I completely uninstalled it from all my devices that are caple of running the new Edge.

Thank you @MissyQ for updates.

I wish to see more addressed in the list.

My favourite part is they refuse to ever even mention it, hoping we won't notice apparently.

Yes this! It seems to be getting worse lately.

@MissyQ

When this feature "Provide an option to set a custom URL for a new tab instead of showing the new tab page" will be available ?

Thanks

When downloading files on Microsoft edge, I know you are bringing back the features from internet explorer to save as and open. Still, it would be nice to get an open file location button or maybe even an arrow next to the open button saying open file location.
Just submitted feedback but I would love the ability to open a new tab by pressing the middle mouse button at the top of the window like in Firefox

@Brandon_Snailer
Me too ! I keep submitting this!
But as usual they aren't responding and they won't add it and they won't fix or add anything that we want.
