Top Feedback Summary for September 15

Microsoft

Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.

Why, hello there, Insiders! This week, we’re going to close out a couple of items now that they are fully into our Dev channel. Let’s get into those details!

First up, we introduced a password generator into our Dev channel with last week’s update, so we are marking Enable automatic generation of strong passwords as Addressed. When you go to a website that wants you to create a new account in either our Canary or Dev channels, you will now see the option to create a strong password via the browser.

Additionally, in line with our PDF Roadmap, we’ve implemented the ability to navigate PDFs via a table of contents. To use this feature, click on the Table of Contents icon on the top left side of the PDF toolbar to open a pane containing a list of the different sections within your document, then click on any item in the list to quickly navigate to that section in the document. With that, we’re also marking Enable navigation of PDF files via table of contents as Addressed this week.

We still want to know your thoughts! Is there something you see with these new features that you feel can be improved? Let us know by submitting feedback directly through the browser via the menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback (or, if you’re on mobile, by tapping the button and scrolling to Send feedback).

Here’s this week’s updated list:

Where did they confirm it's Edge's problem?

which other people?

@HotCakeX

You didn't read any replies in here right?
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/importing-firefox-history-amp-passwords/m-p/13990...

And people are complaining everywhere.
Just because it's mistakenly/coincidentally works for you doesn't mean it works 100% and fully functional and anyone that doesn't work with him is an idiot.

Mistakenly / coincidentally Lol

Oh and I do read the replies, maybe you don't?

"It seems like there's something happening in relation the specific devices that you've attempted this on, as most other users are now reportedly able to import data from Firefox just fine."

@HotCakeX

Are you sure you read everything?

Historically we have had issues with recognizing the profile paths for non standard installations (policy driven installs, portable installs etc) so it was better for me to ask. But yes, this would be our bug and not FFs. I have taken a bug on this in our roadmap.

@Omar-Os

Watch this carefully

Import from Firefox to Edge works fine and perfectly, without issue, that's the proof.

if you don't know how to import your data properly, please use that video to do it the correct way.

most recent version of Edge, Firefox and Windows 10, all stable.

@HotCakeX
Useless.
I replied to you already on the other thread.
I would have stopped replying to you a while ago by now but I just LOVE to keep spamming this thread with this subject so they "MAY" take this seriously at some point.

it is not useless. you said you tried it on a new Windows installation and browsers and it didn't work, without showing a video.

@HotCakeX

I'm NOT recording a video for all this again just to proof to YOU that I'm not lying, They know I'm right. And it's NONE of your business anyway.

Well without a proof to show how you do the process and what errors you are receiving, what version of browser you are using, what Windows version you are on, it's hard to pinpoint the exact issue you are having.

there is no reason to be rude or hostile.

@HotCakeX
Again, I already sent them everything they wanted everywhere several times!
So again, it's none of your business.

You shouldn't be telling members "it's none of your business", everyone has the right to comment.

if you already sent them everything, then you don't have to mention it that you are having problem in the thread, because like you said, they already know it.

but when someone says it's working and shows you proof, and you keep saying it doesn't and refuse to show proof and in the end tell them "it's none of your business". honestly...not so polite.

Hi @MissyQ
You cannot imagine my facial expression when I saw "Add dictionary in PDF" planned.

It's the main reason that keeps Legacy Edge installed on my Surface Pro.

What I need in my lovely Edge's PDF reader are the following:

  1. The Picture Dictionary in the immersive reader is outstanding! I hope that you will implement it in the PDF reader.
  2. A shortcut to define the selected word/phrase. (It would be much more useful if we can change the keys in the setting.)
  3. Bing Translator to translate the selected text.
  4. The ability to store words in a list for further reading.
  5. I read PDFs every day! In Legacy Edge, I just put the tab aside when I finish reading and it automatically saves my progress. So I hope that you will add this feature too!

These features will help me in studying my PDFs specifically during my ONLINE courses.

Thank you Microsoft for providing me such useful tools.

@HotCakeX
They have proof, a lot of it (Sent by me)
And you are not from Microsoft team or Edge team.
Therefore, it's none of your business.
And this is me being very very polite.. so far.

Well you deleted your post that you were asking for help in the thread. but remember, this is public community, you can't tell people not to comment and it's none of their business.

so far Edge is working fine in regard to importing data from Firefox. if it's not working for you, try reinstalling Firefox, Edge or your Windows installation, data might be corrupted.

@HotCakeX
I didn't delete anything anywhere.

Seriously?...

this user is replying to you and mention your name as well.

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/top-feedback-summary-for-september-15/m-p/1672718...

because you first posted a comment (now deleted) that you have problem with Firefox import and complained, he suggested the same thing I did.

@MissyQ

Can you please provide more flags in edge mobile? and more information regarding Edge mobile?

Thank you

@HotCakeX
Ah the admins removed it and they sent me a message about it.
Funny they felt offended when I said the truth "Which is they don't do their job" and sent me a message immediately.
But when I submit a lot of issues over the past year nothing actually happens at all, not even replies!
But thanks for the heads up because I'm going to post it again.

@Omar-Os  of course, why not, If I'm in their place I would have felt offended too and by the way it's not "Funny".
