Hello, Insiders! Can you believe we’re coming up to the end of the year? We’ve got just a couple of updates this week, so let’s jump right in!
We’re marking Enable customers to pin Favorites menu to the side of the screen as Addressed today! If you haven’t seen it yet, William did a post that explains the updates we recently did to the favorites management experience, including the ability to pin the menu to the side of the browser! We encourage you to try it out in our Canary or Dev channel, and let the team know your thoughts about these changes over on William’s forums post.
Also getting an update this week is Add "text notes" feature to PDF files, users should start seeing that in our Canary channel this month. With that, we’re moving it from Planned to Planned for November. This is part of our ongoing work we’ve been doing on PDFs. A few months ago we posted our PDF Roadmap, and at the end of September we posted an update to where we are. If you haven’t read those updates yet, we highly suggest it!

We’re still in the process of rolling it out, but if you see it available, we’d love to know your thoughts or any issues you spot. Letting folks know that there is a flag in edge://flags for vertical tabs. This flag might not be avail for everyone, but do a search in the flags window for "vert" and if you have it, it will show up.
@MissyQ You said you're marking Enable customers to pin Favorites menu to the side of the screen as Addressed, but in the list you instead marked Enable customers to pin sites to Start Menu in Windows as Addressed. Which one is it?
True, I was referring to stable release and NOT Dev or Canary.
Many users are using Microsoft Edge as their default browser in production environment and for this reason, they won't use beta and under development version. So they have to wait for features in stable release.
Why does "Search in Sidebar" default to searching Bing news? I always end up having to click "All" to get relevant results. At first I assumed it was somehow context aware, but I've confirmed that it does a news search every time.
Great work! Some more features I would really love to see:
The 'legacy edge' was really good for inking and I use it for making recorded presentations where I annotate slides (pdf or html). It would be great to bring back and extend these features. In particular:
- full screen mode with single page view and swipe left/right to change page - a favourite pen toolbar, like that in OneNote for easily switching between colours and pen type - a laser pointer pen style, that leaves a temporary trail as you draw with it - add new blank page, or a 'whiteboard' button which opens up a blank page which you can switch to and from during the presentation. This could also have the option to be saved (e.g. as pdf). - nice zoom controls, like pinch zoom, double tap to return to full page
