Hello, Insiders! It’s been a bit, but we’re back here in March to update you on several of these statuses. We’re not closing anything out this round, but we are adding on a couple of new items y’all have been asking about. Let’s hop into it!
First up, we’re rolling back the status of one of the items here, Edge should respect the default PDF viewer. As the team continues to work with our internal partners, we’ve moved this item’s status back to Planned. We’ll provide more information as we get it and appreciate your understanding.
Next, we’re moving some items from Planned for February to March. We expect users to see the ability to add more top sites to the new tab page, be able to see a preview of a tab, have a dialog come up warning a user they’re closing all tabs, and the option to prevent auto-play of video and audio coming this month to Canary. As always, we will update you all on any status changes as we get them!
Finally, we’re excited to add on two new items you have been asking for, both currently Under Review by the team. One is something users have been asking for since the introduction of vertical tabs: Hide or shrink the title bar when vertical tabs are enabled. The next is a request for Collections: Enable search of items in Collections. Once the team reviews these items, we’ll provide a status update.

1. Ability to pin a collection would be nice (not to be confused with pinning the collection panel which is possible already) 2. Ability to completely hide the title bar when vertical tabs are enabled would be awesome. The idea should be to show just how much space can freed vertically.
I have been unable to use Google Voice search (Edge Dev briefly hangs and sometimes crashes). Recently I changed my Google region from New Zealand to United States. Google voice search now works in Edge Dev! This behavior seems specific to Edge, as in Google Chrome voice search works with New Zealand region.
Definitely submit this as in-browser feedback as well! The team is reviewing shrinking/hiding title bar so it's the perfect time to let us know what you'd like to see there 😃
A new release and same stuff, Almost all the problems are still there after around 2 years of reporting..
- Move the "Force Dark Mode for Web Contents" from "Flags" to "Appearance" in Settings and let us customize the websites that we want to enable or disable it on them.
- Everything in my PC is in dark mode, even the "Force Dark Mode for Web Contents" But somehow every time I open Edge I get this white page for a few seconds that blinds me for like a minute... and every new page I open it loads in white page until the page opens.. and if the website or my connection is slow then that stupid useless white loading screen stays for longer and I have to look away until it's done loading............
- When everything is using dark mode and "Force Dark Mode for Web Contents" is enabled, All icons and buttons turns to dark grey which are almost not visible at all! https://imgur.com/ICpYsDC

- Middle click mouse button on tabs bar to open a new tab? - Built-in AdBlocker? - Dark Mode for PDFs reading specially if the pages are scanned?
I'll keep sending this feedback everyday until these are added/fixed since you almost never do anything at all from what we report or request.
I like the way Edge does NOT have a selected state when you click a History item in the History panel. This way you never know what place you're at in the History Panel when you move your cursor away from the History Panel. I hope this is by design to drive everyone crazy?

when you open history flyout, the first item has lines around it.
@HotCakeX No it's not added yet, it's still experimental and you have to enable it from flags so no it's not added. Also it doesn't tell you how many tabs you are running which makes it half useless.
Hi there! Really appreciate all the hard work you've been doing to constantly bring us these updates. I've been using Edge as my default browser for about 7 months now. It's been performing excellently so far, and I have no complaints.
I just have one request: prior to the latest update, I used the "flags" feature to enable overlay scrollbars. Now, I can't enable this feature anywhere. I'm currently using an extension for overlay scrollbars. However, it doesn't work as seamlessly as the previous one.
@HotCakeX You do not get it yet. The item SHOULD stay highlighted once you click it. The item should stay highlighted one you click it and you move your mouse to the web page. The item should stay highlighted so you know which item you clicked since you may want to see where you left off in the history list.
What is a selected state om list item: Please google or Bing
Anyone know when we can expect the pinned tab previews that we had from the old edge. I'm anxiously waiting for something from the Edge team even if it a flag to turn on.
