Top Feedback Summary for March 23

Microsoft

Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.

Hey there, Insiders! If you are one of our Canary users, you may have spotted last week that you now have your own update page. Our Dev and Beta channel users have been seeing these update pages whenever the channels receive a major update (for our Dev users, this is weekly), and we’re excited to bring that same level of details to our Canary users.

While not on this list but directly related to feedback from you all, the team wants to talk to Collections users! We have a survey running right now where you can apply to be a part of a research study about Collections – you even have a chance at earning some money! Talking with you all about your feedback during one-on-one conversations really helps us understand at a deeper level what your needs are, so we encourage you to sign up to chat with us!

In other “not on this list” news, today’s Dev channel update brings Microsoft account sync to Edge on Linux! This is something we have been working hard on, and Sean goes over the details in his forums post here.

Now, for this week’s updates to the list! Not much is being shuffled around this week, however we are marking Add a dictionary to the PDF reader as Addressed! Aditi’s PDF roadmap post talks about what we’re working on next for our PDF reader, and we encourage you to give it a read to see what we’ve done.

If you haven’t spotted it yet, we’ve implemented some more browser themes! William talks about this update here. This is part of the work around Users would like more theme and customization options, however we are continuously listening as we make adjustments in this space. Please continue to submit feedback to us about customization requests via the menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback. We still plan on work around this so we are going to keep this status as Planned for now.

That’s it for this week! We’ll see you all for next week’s update to your top feedback.

Here’s the updated list for this week:

Thank you for the info

It would be possible to have information on these bugs (no response with the feedback, of course)

No more tooltip : No more tooltip - Microsoft Tech Community

Import password and data : Import password and other - Microsoft Tech Community

Not using sync and needing to import data (favorites, etc ...), I hope these bugs will be resolved quickly

Or how to import Favorites (without sync) ?

Thanks

Hi,

you don't need sync to import favorites.

You can import your favorites from HTML file or important favorites and other data from another browser, without having to sign into Edge or enabling sync.

for password, you also have an additional option which also works without the need for sync or sign in.

you don't need to enable any flags for this, it's currently being rolled out gradually in Canary/Dev.

if you don't have it, just wait till it becomes available automatically.

If I could do it I wouldn't ask the question, but it doesn't work as I stated in my post

For that I also asked where was the resolution of these bugs (no answer via the feedback)
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/import-password-and-other/m-p/2219963
Which Windows 10 build and Edge version did you try that didn't work?
and what exactly do you mean that it didn't work, do you get any error messages? something happens?
> Sync for Linux
Thanks for listening to my cries ๐·°(৹˃̵﹏˂̵৹)°·๐

Everything is indicated in my post, blank page for the data and not the "Import password" option (I had it before)

Windows 10 21h1 (19043) ans last Canary version

How about Edge stable/Beta?

@HotCakeX @MissyQ

Since few updates, edge://settings/importData doesn't work for MS Edge for Linux. Feedback had been sent from few Linux distros. I get answers that someone at MS had got the feedback, but this problem has not been resolved.

this is awesome and I hope this sync feature will available by default and users does not need to tamper with the flag settings anymore
It's normal for an experimental feature to go to the flags section at the beginning.
there have been hundreds of features going to flags first when they came out and then enabled by default once developers made sure that it's stable enough to be turned on for everyone by default.
Doesn't work on Canary either, goes to blank screen, but it works on Edge stable.
I've sent feedback too hopefully they will fix it in time.
I just received an email from MS they are investigating the problem
Nice! good news

@HotCakeX

Just want to know why they locked the community thread about "I want more than 8 quicklinks"?

I can't reply on the thread.
Anyone else seeing this/ having the same problem?

Yeah, I think I can say for all us Canary users we been waiting for this which seems like forever!  Thanks Team!  Looking sooo much forward to this.

Now, how about doing a little something for the "Flags" page.  Like maybe put some kind of mark on any new or changed flags you place on the flags page so that we do not have to hunt through the entire page trying to figureout if anything has been added.

Now of course you woud take the mark on the new item weekly and place on whatever new you have added.   Yeah, I know sounds like it would be a pain in the behind, but the only real solution would be to place all new entries at either the bottom of the page or the top of the page.  As it is now they can be found all over the page, i.e.  top, bottom, middle, top of the middle, bottom of the middle.. ect.

Just my 20cents,

Dennis5mile

p.s. I've sent this in as feedback too.

@MissyQ@HotCakeX @tistou

Well, you can now sync. Dev channel for Linux.
Go to "edge://flags" in a new tab, find the "MSA sign in" and enable.

@MissyQ where can Canary users access the update page?  Thanks!

@GregBurlingame

It will get posted every friday with the update to Canary in the same manner as it does for Dev and Beta.  The last one is located here on this link.
