SVG AntiAliasing Issues

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

I'm observing an issue with rendering SVG files in new Edge Insider browser when there are very thin lines. Please have a look at the attached screenshot.

Left is new Edge Insider, you'll notice that parts of the lines are missing at all (front wheel) or are rendered quite crispy (rear window). In the "old" Edge on the right it looks much nicer.

To compare with other browsers, Firefox looks also good (like old Edge), but original Chrome renders crispy (of course, same engine).

I found out that this behavior was filed as a bug in Chromium over 5 years ago, but the Chromium team rejected it "won't fix - by design".

Now I'm wondering whether there is a chance that this will be improved now in Chromium by the Edge Insider Team. Because from perspective of an user of the "old" Edge that particular rendering in new Edge Insider is a step backward.

Best regards,

Torben

I@tschramme86  I seriously agree!

Chromium has some of the worst SVG rendering in a modern browser.

I hope the Edge team can improve on this as the Google Chrome team is very rarely interested.
