Selective ad blocking

Google is starting to aggressively try to get people to switch to Google Chrome, mostly through misleading ads and scare tactics. (Article on a report on one here.) They have been doing this for years and is not new.

My solution is to selectively block Google ads that promote chrome, maybe using SmartScreen Defender. There is hardly anyone that hasn't heard of chrome. Since the first thing people do when they get a new computer is download chrome, they can try out edge first, and if they don’t like it, then they can switch.

Any thoughts on legal issues or other problems?

I agree with you that Microsoft should stop these fake advertisements using built in adblocker and tracking prevention.
