PWA oppening when browsing to the website

Copper Contributor

PWA are an addition that grew in popularity ever since edge introduced them, and this idea, I hope will make them better

When browsing, maybe PWA could open when their website is reached
for example, if I had a youtube PWA, maybe it could open whenever I go to https://www.youtube.com/ ?

maybe the same for twitter, have the PWA open when people go to https://twitter.com/

this could even happen with all PWA

(and, if people don't want this, have a setting that can enable/disable it ?)

Hi,
That's a Very interesting feature suggestion! I'd like that as well.

I'm pretty sure that's already a thing. There's some flag for intents or somethin'

here is all the flags related to PWAs, even enabling all of them didn't do that :\

@Molly_Dreemurr yeah, we've been discussing something like this. If you've "installed" a PWA, then that does indicate you want to have an "app like" experience with that site, so you'd likely want to be redirected to that app when browsing. However, it would need to be an easy setting to turn off, because it could also be seen as pretty jarring in certain circumstances.

Thanks very much for the feedback.

I think I saw it in Chrome Canary. I'm not sure if it's in Chromium.
