Pinned tabs in vertical tabs broken

Microsoft

The pinned tabs in the vertical tab bar used to be reduced to the favicon only. Taking up much less space. In recent updates they've become 'full' tabs.

Will this be resolved any time soon?

Hi,

here is a quote from developers:

"This is an evolution of our design of the vertical tab pane to show different categories of tabs in the same way, with pinned tabs and regular tabs being the first two categories, since the whole point of the vertical tab pane is to be able to show more info about a tab instead of scrunching everything together like they are in horizontal mode.  Make sure you file feedback that you liked the old design better though, since we'll continue to evolve the design of vertical tabs!  "

hi again,

just wanted to give you an update that it's back to the way it was before now, in Edge Version 90.0.784.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit)

pinned tabs in vertical tabs only have favicons, when the vertical tab panel is pinned

@HotCakeX Thanks! I noticed - I'm on the Canary version. Very happy with this change!

now i don't see the difference between the pinned two sites with the same icon, i need a switch for that

there's no point in vertical tabs if i can't read the tab titles

There are still other ways to identify them.
1) use the tooltip when you hover over them 2) use the tab preview 3) unpin the vertical tabs panel because this behavior only happens when it's pinned.
pinned tabs do not disappear on restart.

Why do I need vertical tabs if I can use hover / tab preview with horizontal ones the same way?

umm okay that's good a thing, they are expected to persist and be there after a restart

well it shows all tab titles, doesn't squeeze tabs together when there are lots of tabs open, you can just scroll up/down, so you virtually have unlimited space for tabs. plus, it's another style of using the browser if you prefer it.
