and as a result, most of its settings and options are missing when using personal account
Missing items including: Weather, To-Do, Calendar, Flight, Devices etc etc...
I really hope it's not permanent because Not everyone use or even have a work/school account. I for one don't and I don't see any necessity to have one for Cortana.

Agreed this is ridiculous, I don't want my work account set as my main account with Cortana, I use her primarily for personal things and work business to a lesser degree. I don't mind her being connected to both but the personal account should not limit the availability of features.

I'm not sure whether it's just my localisation settings or what but the new beta app has no settings for anything other than the account I use. I am lucky I have computers with the old versions still as I can actually see what's connected, my skills, devices and home automation. This new app is basically useless and I am not surprised as in the news today Microsoft seem to have confirmed they are killing off most of Cortana from android, IOS and it's likely neutering it in Windows too. I don't want to access Cortana through several different apps in Office365, I want a single location to control and be fed information useful to me. I don't like this new direction it seems counter intuitive and certainly not productive.
I have to say I am beyond shocked by the news they are withdrawing support for Android, with the new surface Duo coming I thought they would be ramping up development and integration of Cortana. It's making the new phone even less attractive as it moves further from windows and windows phone and more towards google. Some of us don't want to interact with Google or Amazon.

Yes but they fail to market anything or complete it or in the case with Cortana release her with very limited functionality outside the US market. Alexa and Google assistant are fully featured throughout all markets, Cortana has been available for longer than both these assistants and yet she is still hobbled to regional locking, how can a company expect her to succeed if they don't press ahead and add improvements. Waiting over 12 months to fix the Celsius issue is unacceptable.

This doesn't surprise me, I preferred Microsoft under Balmer and was hoping for Elop to become CEO. I won't deny Nadela has done well with cloud but retrenching all consumer focus and killing off Windows Phone was a death knell for so much of what made Microsoft great.

Yes that's him.
I'm disillusioned by the current direction they are taking, it just gets worse and worse. AI is the future of where the world is headed and will revolutionise life as we know it in much the same way as electricity did a over a century ago. Microsoft must significantly double down on Cortana and push out massive improvements, rather than retrench features they need to lead and push out innovation. I have no issue with an enterprise focus but consumer features and skills must also be a direction of their future strategies as everything is interlinked. Microsoft can't cede to Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant but rather must compete and lead with their strengths and then come back and reinstate consumer features. To do so is locking themselves out of the IOT and AI markets - truncating their ability to gain mindshare and consumer confidence, so condemning them to a lesser presence. Having a visible manifestation of their work through Cortana is important as it ever was.
