msedgedriver for linux missing

Copper Contributor

Since Edge is now pre-released for development and "testing" on linux, it would be great if the corresponding msedgedriver would also be released soon. Currently, it is missing e.g. from https://msedgewebdriverstorage.z22.web.core.windows.net/?prefix=88.0.683.0/

Is there any plan to release the linux build of msedgedriver soon?

@pbihler thanks for running Edge on Linux and providing feedback. We are building msedgedriver for Linux, but something happened with automatically populating that build page with the correct results. We are working to get that fixed today or tomorrow and then Linux should start showing up.

@johnjansenThank you, John!

Is there a reason why the linux driver has approximately110MB, while all the other drivers are below 20MB? Is there maybe a strip option which you could activate during compilation?

@pbihler Hi Pascal! Thank you for posting on the forum and giving the team your feedback! We're looking into the size issue with Microsoft Edge Driver on Linux and I'll update this post when I have more info.

For your earlier question about the missing build of Microsoft Edge Driver, I just wanted to make sure you knew that Linux builds of Microsoft Edge Driver are available on the Downloads page here: https://developer.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge/tools/webdriver/#downloads

For that specific version of Microsoft Edge 88, I think you just had a minor typo. That particular version of Microsoft Edge on Linux was 88.0.673.0 (not 88.0.683.0) so if you look in the full-version directory with that version number, you should see edgedriver_linux64.zip here: https://msedgewebdriverstorage.z22.web.core.windows.net/?prefix=88.0.673.0/

Hope that info helps you automate and test Microsoft Edge better!

Thanks,
Zoher

@zghadyali 88.0.692.0 Is NOT the latest version. 88.0.702.0 is.
