MS Edge for Mac 70.0.200.0 bad release - constant crash

Copper Contributor

Crashes on Macintosh version of MS Edge:

I was prompted to update to 77.0.200.0, upon install (no errors during install), and launch, it crashes every single time I try to launch it.

I have reverted to 77.0.189.3, which is stable and does not crash.

Mac Pro, High Sierra (10.13.6) OS, 32GB Ram, 512GB SSD boot drive.

Hard wired Ethernet connection.

If anyone has any ideas as to why, please share.

Sorry about the crashing.

We are working hard to get an update out as soon as we can that fixes this issue.

Thanks for your patience,

Frank

Thanks for your patience and this forum thread has an official update to address the crash issue:

"Earlier today we released build 77.0.200.0 to the Canary channel. Unfortunately, this build contained a bug which caused some macOS users to crash on launch. We have now fixed this bug and released 77.0.200.1 to the Canary channel. Your device will be automatically updated in the coming hours, but if you'd like to get the fix immediately the easiest way to do it is to download and install the PKG file from https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/download. Just click on "Download" for the Canary channel and install just as you did the first time. Your settings and browsing data will be preserved. "
