At some point Cortana had the ability to identify songs' names just like Shazam, but since Shazam is not on Microsoft store, Cortana should fill the gap here. i don't know why this important ability was removed from Cortana but please bring it back.
Sadly, that capability was removed when Microsoft killed their own music service. THAT is what Cortana and Bing were relying on. I was just talking about this feature with a friend of mine. It was INCREDIBLY convenient to hear a song some place, have Cortana listen to it, identify it, give me INFO and allow me to BUY and DOWNLOAD the album. Nobody has that anywhere now. They all stupidly assume we all just want to stream random garbage from their service. Not me.
Yeah, they killed their music service and also they killed the feature that you could use to stream songs from onedrive to the groove music app. i don't know why they do that. in the feedback hub thousands of people are asking to get that feature back no one listens. the irony is that there is an app in the same Windows store that exactly does it, streams songs from onedrive and plays them just like the groove music app form Microsoft. Shazam is removed from Windows store and it's fine, apple's proprietary product and i can't care less. but at least keep Cortana's music recognition so PC users, in general, can have a decent music detection feature.
