This is a feature suggestion for the "start up" option in settings for Microsoft Edge. The current options for MS Edge when you start it are: new tab; where you left off; and a pre-set list of tabs. I suggest creating a 4th option: your pinned tabs plus where you left off (that is, plus the other tabs that were open when you closed Edge).

The need for this arises because of what I call "orphan" browser window problem. I use pinned tabs pretty heavily. My current choice for starting Edge is to re-open where I left off.  Normally, I close Edge and re-open it later and the pinned tabs are there, along with whatever other tabs I had open.

Sometimes, however, during the course of work, a separate browser window opens, such as when I double click on an Outlook email message. That "orphan" browser window has no tabs at all. If I finish using that little browser window go back to my main Edge browser and forget to close the little browser window, then that orphan usually becomes hidden on my screen. I forget about it. (Yes, I know that there is an extra icon hovering over the Edge icon in the tray to show a second window is open, but, when my wife calls me and yells that "You said you were leaving the office 30 minutes ago" and I need to fly, I may not take the time to look at my tray.) At the end of the day, I close my main browser and there the little **bleep** tabless orphan browser is staring at me. Of course, closing that window dooms me, because Edge then thinks that there were no tabs open when I last closed Edge. So, when I re-open Edge the next work day or the next minute, it has none of my pinned tabs (nor does it have the other open tabs).

Yes, I can go through my browsing history and re-open each tab and then pin them. That is what I do, making up new curse words every time about what an idiot I am as I go. However, it seems like this is a problem that can be more easily avoided with an extra option in settings for how Edge starts up. This extra option is just a slightly modified blend of the options we currently have. In particular, I would like to see a 4th option which tells Edge to re-open your pinned tabs (in the pinned status) along with whatever other tabs that were open when you last closed Edge. You would list the tabs to be pinned just as you can now list a set of tabs you want to open every time. This gives me the best of all worlds and avoids the problem that, believe it or not, just arose again before I typed this **bleep** note.

"User error" is my middle name. So, I am accustomed to being told that there is an easy fix and that I am just too stupid to see it. If there already is a fix for this issue outside of a settings option, I welcome seeing that, as well.  Please pass it along. However, it seems to me that this is a logical and helpful option to have in settings and should not just be a "fix" in the form of un-do.

I hope all of you and your families are staying healthy and safe and having more and more fun.
