Edge languages and Multilanguage Windows, automate Edge language installs ?

Copper Contributor

It would be nice if Edge could "sniff" os level language packs and also install them for itself during install. Also if Edge could be forced or freely follow users desktop language codes, it could help some cases where corporates have multilanguage ERP, which sniffs browser language and provide correct language UI for itself for better user experience.

Forcing should be done thru GPO values, so it could be managed if needed ?

Hi @Sahkim888, we just released Microsoft Edge in several new languages.  If you go to the https://microsoftedgeinsider.com website and your current browser is set to a supported language, you should see the site in your language and if you download the latest Canary or Developer channel, it will default to the correct language too.  Unfortunately, we do not yet have the ability to switch the language on the fly, but you can specify the set of languages that you would like to use and the fallback order.  You can also set Microsoft Edge to display in the language too.

Thanks,

Elliot

@Elliot Kirk Hi this is what i meant, could this list "fill" automatically based what language packs OS has and also get reordered based on users OS language preferences at least as on first run as default?

Language settings do work as intend, but i have to add missing languages to that list by hand and reorder them to get right language output from ERP. UI language is not the problem only that language code what is passed to ERP.

Basics do work, but only from users viewpoint it could be bit more easier.

But if it is coming at some point, its nice to hear.

Are there any news for this one? Are we (or will we be) able to set the default language by auto-detection of windows settings or by GPO (ADMX or RegKey)? As a company it's important to set the default language for the users. Otherwise every user has to set it manually by himself.
