Edge Bug with Group Policy Setting "Force direct intranet site navigation instead of searching

Force direct intranet site navigation instead of searching on single word entries in the Address Bar

In Chrome if you set this setting if it cannot find the server then it resolves back to the "search"
In IE 11 if you set their equivelant setting, if it cannot find the server then it resolves back to the "search"

In Edge Chromium if you set this setting, if it cannot find the server then it says "Page cannot be displayed"

It would be nice if this setting was consistent with Chrome and IE.

We have it enabled because we have a lot of old Health web-aps that still use the \\servername to access through the browser. However, if people type CHEESE it shouldn't just come up with Page Cannot Be displayed.

The IE setting is as follows
Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Internet Settings/Advanced settings/Browsing
Go to an intranet site for a one-word entry in the Address bar  = ENABLED

Edge has a flag called "Allow Intranet Search Engine"
Allow automatically adding Intranet single word website as search engine. – Mac, Windows
#edge-allow-intranet-search-engine
maybe it helps
