Dev Channel update to 111.0.1619.2 is live

Microsoft

Hello Insiders! Today, we are releasing the first build 111 to Dev with 111.0.1619.2. Mac users will receive the Dev build at a later date. This build includes many fixes and a few new features. We also have a new blog post about CSS selector performance and a video about what’s new in DevTools 109.

Last weekend, we released a Dev build 110.0.1587.11 to address the missing Start menu entries caused by the Defender issue. If you had the Microsoft Edge icon on your Start Tiles or Taskbar and it is missing, removing and re-pinning the icon should add it back correctly.

I would like to bring attention to anyone using Stable build 109 and experiencing a PDF printing issue with printer names containing CJK characters. We have released Stable 109.0.1518.61 to patch the issue.

After my microsoft edge dev updated to 111.0.1619.2, there is a "discover" button on the top-right corner of the browser window, which is VERY annoying. Each time when my mouse hover on it (even without a click), the discover menu and sidebar pops up. How can I remove this "discover" button?
Anything sidebar-related (the menu option, the customize sidebar button, etc) causes a crash 100% of the time now. Please fix this!

@Snorfle Thanks for reporting the issue. Can you please follow the steps below and submit feedback from the edge://crashes page so the engineering team can investigate this?

  1. Type edge://crashes in the address bar and press enter.
  2. Find the crash related to this by the date and time.
  3. Click on Submit feedback.
  4. Fill out the form.
  5. Include your email address and make sure Allow (recommended) is selected for Send diagnostic data to Microsoft.
  6. Once completed, click on Send.

@Eric_E Done.   Again it's anything related to the sidebar that causes the crash.

This discover button is the WORST design and actively user unfriendly.
It can't be turned off or hidden, and the hover area is huge and takes you out of context covering up half the screen? Seriously?

Please turn this off ASAP.

Edge Team you're actively ruining this once superb new browser. It's a full time job turning off new toolbars and buttons and junk. :(

@Ed Sparks This is an experimental feature, and we are looking for user feedback to determine any changes to the feature. I would strongly encourage you to submit feedback to the team regarding your thoughts on the experiment to help them gather and investigate.

To do so, you can head to ... menu > Help and feedback > Submit feedback.
